Zero-emissions business segment of Cummins, Accelera by Cummins, announces that it will present at Busworld 2025 in Brussels a new ultra-low-floor electric axle for city buses, adding some information to the ones already shared by Cummins a few days ago. Alongside the axle, the company will also showcase a new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery platform designed for public transport and heavy-duty applications, with production planned in Europe.

Accelera to launch eULFA at Busworld

The ultra-low-floor electric axle, named eULFA, has been engineered for urban and intercity buses where the elimination of internal steps and the maximization of usable space are key to improving the passenger experience. According to the company, the solution delivers higher efficiency and a smoother ride, supported by a dual-motor architecture paired with two ELFA3 inverters operating with a single coolant type.

Quiet operation is achieved through a patented gear design and reduced motor speed, while flexibility is offered through customizable track widths, gear ratios and suspension interfaces, the company states. The system supports operation up to 85 km/h and has been designed with simplified serviceability in mind, allowing for straightforward mechanical disconnection.

Alongside the eAxle, Accelera will introduce its Advanced LFP battery platform. The system adopts a long-cell design with low-height sub-packs and in-chassis mounting, offering modularity and scalability for different vehicle applications. With production in Europe, the platform aims to strengthen regional supply for battery-electric mobility.
