Electric drive manufacturer Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) is investing 9.5 million euros in the construction of a new punching center (“Plant 3a”) at its Wiener Neudorf headquarters, in Austria. The project is part of TSA’s long-term “TSA City” development, aimed at modernising production, increasing efficiency, and supporting regional value creation in the region.
At the latest Busworld Europe 2025 in Brusses, the company presented two standout motors from its ROAD-motors portfolio: the agile light-duty LD motor for compact and mid-size electric buses, and the heavy-duty motor HD.T3, designed to perform in the toughest city-center duty cycles. Solaris is TSA main customer in the electric bus sector.
TSA: a new punching center in Austria
The facility aims to consolidate all punching and sheet metal forming processes under one roof, enabling modular expansion and energy-efficient production. The first construction phase is scheduled for completion in 2026, with production beginning in 2027. TSA plans to increase employment from 450 to 550 by 2030 (+22%), focusing on automation, precision, and sustainable manufacturing.
The opening ceremony on November 04, attended by Federal Minister for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure Peter Hanke and TSA CEO Robert Tencl.
“This opening ceremony is more than a construction event – it’s a clear commitment to the future of our site,” emphasized Robert Tencl. “With the new punching center, we are making a targeted investment in technology, sustainability, and in the people who make our success possible.”
Federal Minister Peter Hanke also highlighted the importance of the initiative: “When a global market leader like TSA invests in Wiener Neudorf, it strengthens not only the economic position of Lower Austria but also safeguards valuable jobs and demonstrates that technological innovation in Austria has a strong future.”
“Investments of this nature send a powerful message about Lower Austria as a prime business location. TSA exemplifies how innovation, technological excellence, and a commitment to the region can convert into export opportunities. This not only enhances the company’s competitiveness but also establishes a foundation for sustainable growth and quality jobs in the area,” emphasized Wolfgang Ecker, President of the Lower Austria Economic Chamber.
