Porto’s public transport operator STCP has started operations with 20 new-generation electric buses supplied by CaetanoBus, as the manufacturer outlines in a press note.

The buses were ordered in August 2025 and belong to the new platform developed in partnership with Chinese CRRC an presented at Busworld Europe 2025.

STCP deploys Caetano – CRRC buses in Porto

The delivery represents the latest step in the fleet decarbonisation programme of STCP. Alongside the entry into service of the new vehicles, Caetano confirms that STCP has already placed an additional order for 30 electric buses, scheduled for delivery in the coming months.

Once completed, the programme will bring the total number of Caetano electric buses in the STCP fleet to 65 units by 2026.

The buses now delivered to STCP correspond to the latest evolution of the Caetano e.CityGold, a 12-metre model with capacity for up to 88 passengers. The vehicles are equipped with 422 kWh batteries. According to the manufacturer, the buses integrate “highly reliable, state-of-the-art components and technologies from CRRC”, while Caetano retains full responsibility for vehicle design, specification and system integration.
