The first electric buses have officially entered service in Monza. NET – Nord Est Trasporti, part of the ATM Group – has deployed three Menarini Citymood 12e.
These three vehicles are part of a broader delivery of 15 electric buses destined for NET. In addition, 11 more electric buses will be supplied to Autoguidovie, as highlighted during a press conference held on Friday 11th June. Once the entire rollout is complete, a total of 26 electric buses will be in service across both operators.

A €15 million investment in electric buses
The initiative is supported by a total investment of €15 million, financed through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the National Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility (PSNMS). Of this amount, €3.2 million was allocated to the installation of 18 charging stations at the NET depot in Monza.
Among the technical features of the new buses is the adoption of mirrorcams, replacing traditional side mirrors.
Francesco Manzulli, Director of Operations at ATM Group, emphasized the broader implications of electrification: “Purchasing an electric bus is actually the easy part. We are transforming the Monza depot, building charging infrastructure, and most importantly, we are redesigning our entire operational processes. Introducing electric mobility requires changes throughout the entire organization. ATM began this transition in 2018. We now operate 280 electric buses and expect to reach 600 by 2026.”
