Olectra Greentech has been displaying its new Blade Battery bus chassis at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Also on show, the newly styled 9-meter City and 12-meter Coach buses.

In mid 2024 the OEM stated it had achieved a milestone by surpassing 10,000 units in its e-bus order book, being the first e-bus OEM in the country to achieve this. In early 2024 Mumbai public transport operator BEST awarded a 2,400-units e-bus tender to the group.

As reported a few days ago on Business-Standard media, Olectra Greentech soared 14% as Q3 PAT up 72%”. In Q3FY25, Olectra Greentech reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 46.33 crore, up 71.7 per cent over a profit of Rs 26.98 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last year. On a sequential basis, however, net profit dipped slightly from Rs 47.56 crore seen in Q2Y25″.

Olectra Greentech with BYD until 2030

The new chassis is powered with the Blade Battery developed by Chinese BYD. The Indian group has extended its cooperation agreement with BYD until end of year 2030.

The Shenzen-based company suppliers the Blade Battery, that provides “30% more energy storage, enabling these buses to travel up to 500 kilometres on a single charge”, Olectra Greentech states.

The company has over 2,200 electric vehicles operating around India. One of its greatest achievements is “securing the world’s largest electric bus order for 5,150 buses from MSRTC, Maharashtra”, the OEM says.

Olectra’s buses are designed with advanced features to enhance passenger comfort and safety. These include fully digital instrument panels, Electronic Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS), real-time Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS), and Reverse Park Assist Systems (RPAS).

For passengers, amenities like USB charging ports, roof-mounted air conditioning, and cantilever seats ensure a comfortable journey. In-wheel motors and advanced braking systems deliver a smooth and safe ride.

Passenger safety and comfort “are at the core of Olectra’s design philosophy – the company states -. Features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), GPS tracking, and CCTV cameras ensure robust safety measures. Air suspension and kneeling mechanisms offer smooth rides and easy boarding for everyone, including specially-abled passengers. Wheelchair ramps and inclusive designs make these buses accessible to all”.
