Bus dealer Uzabus in New Zealand has appointed Zenobē, the fleet electrification and battery storage specialist, to provide vehicles and battery financing within a end-to-end zero emission technology solution.

Also designing and building the infrastructure, with ongoing operation and maintenance for the batteries and chargers, are part of the deal, which is supported by Greater Wellington’s Metlink.

Zenobe – Uzabus together for a e-bus pilot

Justin Allan, Managing Director Uzabus said: “This is a trial of two new battery electric buses, which will join the Metlink fleet. By partnering with a fleet electrification specialist, we are confident of service continuity. When assessing technology partners that could assist in achieving our zero emission goals, Zenobē’s commercial model stood out. With established processes that allow flexibility for future scaling, we are excited to accelerate our ambitions and operate a greener fleet,” he said.

Gareth Ridge, Australia New Zealand Country Director Zenobē said: “We have leveraged our global experience in delivering Australia’s largest electric bus depot in Leichhardt, NSW and Australia’s first offsite EV truck charging hub, to create industry blueprints and design fleet solutions that make innovation accessible and scalable. At Uzabus’ Kāpiti depot, we are providing a fully financed end-to-end solution for the electric buses, batteries and charging infrastructure. Financed over 16 years and with a fully managed service, we are helping Uzabus offset the high cost of electrifying through operational savings, enabling them to focus on delivering a reliable, affordable service for their passengers.

Samantha Gain, Metlink group manager said: “Zenobē’s expertise and infrastructure are welcome additions to the Wellington Region. Their technology and tech support for Uzabus will help Metlink reach our goal of an emissions free fleet by 2035.”
