The Azadpur bus terminal in Delhi has been inaugurated after a major revamp. The upgraded terminal will operate 116 buses across 21 routes, most of them electric, according to The Times of India.
The inauguration also saw the flag-off of 40 new electric buses, part of the city’s rapid e-bus expansion, which has added 1,400 vehicles in the past eight months.
Delhi: Azadpur bus depot is now updated
The terminal now offers modern commuter facilities, including shaded platforms, waiting areas, CCTV surveillance, digital screens, public announcements, and solar panels. Passenger services have been enhanced with a baby-feeding room, lockers, and a bus-pass section. Officials said Azadpur will become a major hub connecting north and northwest Delhi, integrating with nearby metro stations. The Times of India notes that this is part of a broader plan to upgrade multiple bus depots across the capital.
Transport authorities highlighted that the upgraded terminal and additional electric buses aim to reduce emissions, increase service frequency, and ease congestion. The new low-floor, air-conditioned buses are equipped with GPS, cameras, and panic buttons, and the city plans further additions based on route demand in the coming months.
