MAN Truck & Bus closed 2025 with 101,600 vehicles delivered (+6%), including over 7,000 buses (+49%) and a record 1,300+ electric city buses (+118%). Bus sales were growing +35% in the first nine months of 2025.

After a difficult prior year, MAN’s 2025 results point to a clear recovery in the bus segment, with battery-electric vehicles emerging as the main structural growth driver. While the overall commercial vehicle market in Europe remained subdued—especially on the truck side—public transport investments and zero-emission procurement policies supported a strong upswing in bus deliveries.

The group has just agreed with employee representatives on the MAN2030+ program, securing all German production sites while planning nearly €1 billion in domestic investments alongside wide-ranging cost reductions.

MAN results 2025 are out

The bus business was one of the strongest performers within MAN’s portfolio in 2025. Total bus deliveries exceeded 7,000 units, up almost 49 per cent year on year, marking a decisive turnaround compared with the weak baseline of 2024. Growth was particularly pronounced in the urban segment, where electrification is progressing fastest.

Battery-electric city buses accounted for the bulk of the increase. MAN announces it has sold more than 1,300 electric buses for urban use during the year, an increase of over 118 per cent and the highest volume ever achieved by the manufacturer in this category.

Importantly, the figures do not yet include contributions from the MAN Lion’s Coach E. The electric coach was presented in 2025 but is scheduled to enter customer service only from the end of 2026.

MAN’s approach remains focused on gradually extending electrification beyond city operations. With the Lion’s Coach E set to complement the existing city and intercity lineup, the company aims to cover a broader range of applications as charging infrastructure and customer confidence continue to develop.

The rebound in bus deliveries was visible across MAN’s core European markets. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, bus sales rose by 93 per cent to around 1,900 units, benefiting from renewed municipal demand after a weak 2024. In the rest of Europe, MAN delivered approximately 3,700 buses, up by about 1,200 units year on year.

Outside Europe, the bus business also contributed positively. Despite geopolitical challenges weighing on several international markets, MAN reported a roughly 10 per cent increase in bus deliveries, supported mainly by the coach chassis segment.

Buses stand out in a mixed group performance

At group level, MAN delivered around 101,600 vehicles in 2025, an increase of just under six per cent. Truck sales remained broadly stable at about 63,300 units, while the van segment reached a new high with more than 31,300 vehicles sold. Across both truck and bus divisions, battery-electric vehicles recorded the strongest relative growth.

MAN outlines that its eTruck, whose series production only began in 2025, “recorded high demand. Over 620 units were sold in 2025, and the order books for the heavy-duty eTrucks are already well filled for 2026”.

“Our strong growth in battery electric vehicles and a successful year in the van segment show that we are on the right track. Despite a challenging market environment with subdued demand in the European truck market – comparable in Germany to the coronavirus years – we were able to increase our overall sales. We are also consistently pushing ahead with the ramp-up of our battery electric portfolio. With the start of series production of the MAN eTGL and the first deliveries of the eCoach, we will round off our range in 2026 and send a clear signal for sustainable mobility,” explains Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales and Customer Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus SE.
