In a recent development reported by The Bolton News, WN Vtech Group, a vehicle manufacturer based in Westhoughton (UK) (under whose umbrella lies Mellor), after entering into administration in late November, is going to be taken over by Belgian entrepreneur Guido Dumarey.

In October 2023, UK-based bus manufacturer Mellor announced it foresaw a 2023 turnover exceeding £85 million, with the Bus Division expected to achieve an output of 900 units in 2023. Such growth has been underpinned by a 40% workforce growth since 2019. Mellor unveiled its 9-meter and 12-meter models at Busworld Europe.

WN Vtech Group taken over by Dumarey

WN Vtech Group, formerly known as Woodall Nicholson, specializes in electric vehicles (EV) and alternative fuels. It owns subsidiaries across the country, including WN Vtech Limited, Treka Bus Limited, Vehicle Conversion Specialists Limited, Promech Technologies Limited, and JM Engineering (Scarborough) Limited.

Despite entering administration in November, the companies within WN Vtech Group continued operations. The joint administrators, Daniel Smith and Julian Heathcote from Teneo Financial Advisory Limited, expressed satisfaction in reaching an agreement with Dumarey, the owner of the Dunmarey Group, well-known in the European automotive scene.

Teneo joint administrator Daniel Smith said: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Dumarey.

The acquisition, according to reports, covers significant operations, including Coleman Milne, VCS Police, Mellor Bus, Treka Bus, Promech, and JM Engineering. This development not only secures the future of these entities but also provides relief for WN Vtech Group’s employees and stakeholders.
