Scania unveiled its new high-floor battery-electric bus and coach platform at Busworld Europe 2025 in Brussels. The platform enables fully electric high-floor buses and coaches for both urban and travel applications, providing operators with a scalable path to zero-emission transport. At Scania stand, a model with right-hand drive and Caetano bodywork is displayed. Also at the booth, a Irizar i3 Electric on Scania chassis and a Scania Touring (with Higer body).

Designed for a variety of coach assignments, the platform offers up to 600 km of stated range and luggage space nearly equivalent to conventional coaches.

The platform integrates proven technology from e-machine to batteries, charging interface, and more, supporting a range of body types, Scania states. Power output can reach 330 kW, with installed energy up to 534 kWh (480 kWh usable), and charging capacity up to 325 kW (500A).

Scania is complementing the launch with a complete ecosystem of electrification services, including smart charging, which helps operators manage peak energy costs and maintain battery performance, and the Scania Charging Access service, providing access to a growing network of public charging stations for heavy commercial vehicles.

With this high-floor BEV platform, Scania is enabling coach operators worldwide to transition to electric mobility without compromising operational flexibility, range, or luggage capacity.

“With the launch of the new high-floor BEV platform, Scania is not only introducing our first battery-electric coaches but also reinforcing our position as a trusted partner in the transition to sustainable transport,” says Carl-Johan Lööf, Head of Product Management for People Transport Solutions at Scania. “We believe that the various features offered by this new platform will address coach and bus operators’ concerns about combining zero-emission operations with the needs of urban and travel assignments, making it an ideal solution for the electrification of this growing market in people transport.”
