The electric midibus Sigma 8 from Wisdom Motor will be presented in Germany for the first time this week at Mobility Move 2026 in Berlin.
The vehicle will be displayed at the stand of distributor Jebsen & Jessen e-Mobility (the same dealer of Irizar e-mobility in DACH countries) during the Mobility Move conference and exhibition. Information about the vehicle and its launch at the event has been reported by German trade media Omnibusspiegel and omnibus.news. At the same event Daimler Buses is set to unveil the Mercedes eCitaro with NMC4 battery, MAN will display the Lion’s City LE with intercity homologation, ZF will showcased its modular electric bus drivetrains and Konvekta will focus on CO₂-based thermal management systems for electric buses.
The Sigma 8 belongs to the Sigma family of electric midibuses originally developed by the British manufacturer Mellor and later taken over by Wisdom. The Sigma platform currently includes vehicles with lengths of 7, 8, 9 and 10 metres designed for urban operations requiring compact vehicles.
Wisdom Sigma 8 in the spotlight
The Sigma 8 is a low-entry electric midibus measuring approximately 8.7 metres in length, with a width of about 2.3 metres and a height of roughly 3.1 metres. The vehicle can accommodate up to 54 passengers and is designed for feeder services, operations in dense urban centres and routes in residential districts with constrained street geometry.
The bus features a wheelbase of 4,340 mm. According to specifications reported by omnibus.news, the vehicle is also capable of handling gradients of up to 20%.
The configuration includes twin rear wheels designed to support traction and stability under full passenger load.
The Wisdom Sigma 8 is equipped with lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs supplied by CATL, with a maximum installed capacity of up to 278 kWh.
The front axle with independent suspension is supplied by Italian axles and transmissions specialist Brist, while the drive axle is provided by Hande. Propulsion is delivered by a central electric motor.
Following the Mobility Move event, the vehicle is expected to enter the demonstration fleet of Jebsen & Jessen e-Mobility and will be made available for trial operations and demonstration drives. The company introduced the Sigma electric midibus range to the DACH market approximately two years ago as part of its portfolio of electric mobility solutions for buses, trucks and charging infrastructure.
