Parker Hannifin, GVM310 electric motor for commercial vehicles

Parker Hannifin, based in the US (2018’s revenue: 14.3 billion dollars), is specialized in motion and control technologies. The corporation has recently showcased the latest addition to its Global Vehicle Motor (GVM) family of high-power, permanent magnet AC motors (PMACs). The electric motor for commercial vehicles GVM310 has a 310mm frame and provides a traction solution for on-road and off-road commercial electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

These include construction vehicles, city buses, light construction and materials and mining vehicles, the company points out. Adding that «when used in conjunction with Parker’s hydraulic pumps, the GVM family can also help customers realize electro-hydraulic pump (EHP) solutions that allow the electrification of formerly purely hydraulic applications».

Up to 409 kW for the electric motor GVM310 from Parker Hannifin

The electric motor GVM310 from Parker features peak power values ranging from 147 kW to 409 kW. Parker Hannifin points out that the GVM310 can also be run as a generator enabling effective battery management, longer duty cycles and energy savings of up to 30% compared to induction technologies, according to the company.

Among the key specifications of the Parker Hannifin GVM family of electric motor for commercial vehicles, we could mention a new thinner lamination design to reduce losses, a patented cooling system and a clean, oil-free design. The GVM310’s 310mm frame size complements existing units with 142mm and 210mm stack lengths.
