Carrier Blaguss and FlixBus have deployed eight Yutong electric coaches on the cross-border route connecting Vienna, Vienna Airport and Bratislava, with more than 90% of the scheduled kilometres on the service now operated electrically.
The new operation started on 1 October 2026 and involves eight battery-electric coaches supplied by Yutong Bus & Coach Europe. According to information released by Blaguss, the vehicles are being used in daily scheduled service between Austria and Slovakia.
The project covers 66 daily trips and 5,568 electrically operated kilometres per day, representing more than 90% of the total scheduled kilometres on the connection.
The eight vehicles deployed with FlixBus form part of a wider electric coach rollout already underway at Blaguss. In April 2026, the Austrian operator introduced 12 Yutong T12E battery-electric coaches as part of its “Way to Zero” programme.
Eight Yutong electric coaches enter Vienna-Bratislava service
The eight new Yutong coaches operate between Vienna, Vienna Airport and Bratislava as part of the FlixBus network, under the long-standing cooperation between FlixBus and Austrian operator Blaguss.
Blaguss states that the vehicles will be used in regular daily operation rather than on individual demonstration or test services.

Charging infrastructure has been installed in both Vienna and Bratislava to support the operation. According to Blaguss, the charging system also uses renewable electricity generated by the company’s own photovoltaic installations.
The operator reports 66 scheduled trips per day on the connection. The electric coaches cover 5,568 kilometres daily, corresponding to more than 90% of the route kilometres operated under the timetable.

The deployment combines the eight battery-electric coaches with charging facilities at both ends of the cross-border operation.
Blaguss identifies the project as part of its wider electric mobility activities and as an application of battery-electric technology to scheduled international coach services.

“The future of bus transport must be climate-friendly, and electromobility will play a central role in this. Together with FlixBus, we are now consistently bringing it into everyday mobility in cross-border coach transport,” said Paul Blaguss, Managing Director of the BLAGUSS Group.
