While waiting to focus heavily on hydrogen, FlixBus also goes electric. Yes because the operator has launched its first electric bus in Portugal, together with Auto Vicao Feirense.

The ebus with the unmistakable green livery with orange details will be used on the intercity route connecting the Bragança and Porto terminals, with stops in Vila Real and Amarante.

It is a vehicle provided by Yutong, with a claimed range of about 350 km, and will have 47 seats inside. As reported by Electrive these are the words of Pablo Pastega, FlixBus general manager for Portugal and Spain: «It is only a small step, but it represents a lot for sustainable mobility in Portugal. For FlixBus it is about continuing the project we have of providing millions of people with sustainable and accessible mobility».

Meanwhile, the Hyfleet project to develop fuel cells continues, together with Freudenberg and ZF. «We are proud to be part of the HyFleet project to develop the first long-distance fuel cell bus in Europe until 2024», the words of André Schwämmlein, co-founder and CEO of FlixMobility.
