BYD India has signed a new order with its long-term partner, Olectra Greentech Limited (OGL), for 2,325 electric bus chassis.

The order includes models K9, C9, and K7, reinforcing the strong collaboration between the two companies. In addition to this, BYD India secured an additional order for 50 K7 and 275 K9 chassis, supplementing the 750 units ordered in August 2024, as reported on Chinabuses.org.

In 2024, India registered 3,616 electric buses, with Olectra holding a 17% market share in the electric bus segment.

As of January 31, 2025, a total of 2,330 buses equipped with BYD electric bus chassis are operating in 35 cities across the country, representing a 24% market share, still according to data provided by the Chinese trade media.

Notable deployments include the 12-meter K9 city bus operating with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and the C9 intercity tourist bus serving with the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

Zhang Jie, Deputy General Manager of BYD’s Asia-Pacific Automotive Sales Division, states: “BYD India has been collaborating with OGL for over a decade. Over the past 10 years, BYD India’s commercial vehicle business has continued to grow, which is a testament to the market and customers’ high trust in BYD’s product quality, technological innovation, and service capabilities. The signing of this order marks a new phase in our cooperation. Moving forward, we will continue to promote deeper collaboration between the two parties with excellent product quality and first-class service.”
