Luminator expands onboard video offering in North America with RoadRunner Edge for mid-market transit fleets

Luminator has launched RoadRunner Edge, a new onboard video solution designed for mid-market transit agencies and smaller fleets in North America.

The product was introduced ahead of the APTA Mobility Conference taking place from 17 to 20 May in Salt Lake City, where the company showcased the system at booth 600.

RoadRunner Edge joins the existing RoadRunner Pro offering and operates on the same mSET software platform, allowing operators to manage video systems across mixed fleets through a single interface. According to Luminator, the new solution is aimed at agencies requiring onboard video recording, remote monitoring and fleet management capabilities with simplified deployment and compatibility with both analog and IP cameras.

The system includes fan-less hardware designed for transit operating environments, with built-in GPS, Wi-Fi and a 7-inch HD touchscreen. Luminator states that the solution supports onboard recording for incident review and claim management, while centralized management functions are handled through the mSET platform.

RoadRunner Edge is positioned for shuttle, paratransit, circulator and mixed-vehicle fleets, while RoadRunner Pro remains focused on applications involving AI-enabled cameras, analytics and higher camera-count configurations.
