The debut had come in the spring of 2022 at Bus2Bus, when Otokar introduced the mini-electric e-Centro C to the bus world: 6.6 meters, powered by battery motor (110 kW lithium-ion NMC modules) with a maximum power output of 200 kW and a maximum torque of 1200 Nm, for a range of up to 200 kilometers.

Well, the Turkish manufacturer recently received a hefty order for 29 models for local public transport in central Italy: it will start running on the roads in Rome in early 2024 and will then be delivered to bus lines in Syracuse, Salerno, Reggio Calabria, Cagliari and Palermo in the second half of 2024.

Kerem Erman, head of Otokar Commercial Vehicles, said: «With a wide family of electric buses ranging from 6 to 19 meters, we offer solutions to the diverse needs of public transport in Europe. We are excited to bring our e-Centro microbus to Italy, a country of unique beauty and rich historical heritage, and to contribute to the transformation of public transport; e-Centro is leading the way with its powerful electric motor, low energy consumption, high durability, superior maneuverability, comfort, low-floor design, spacious interior, high safety equipment and intelligent software. It offers a solution for modern, environmentally friendly and efficient public transportation service. We are confident that it will become the favorite of sustainable transportation in Italy».
