Białystok, in Poland, has introduced 30 new Yutong U12 battery-electric buses into its public transport network following a delivery completed by Busnex Poland.

The vehicles have been allocated to the city’s three municipal public transport operators, bringing the total number of zero-emission buses operating in Białystok to 50 with plans to grow until 110. The contract also included the supply of charging infrastructure. According to Busnex Poland, the project was supported through Poland’s National Recovery Plan.

The latest delivery follows the contract signed in July 2025 and marks the second major procurement between Białystok and Busnex Poland after the delivery of 20 Yutong E12 electric buses in 2023, which represented the city’s first battery-electric bus fleet.

Białystok is the largest city in north-eastern Poland and the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, close to the borders with Lithuania and Belarus.

The Yutong U12 buses are 12 metres long and accommodate at least 71 passengers, including 34 seated. Each vehicle is equipped with battery packs and a regenerative braking system, enabling an operating range of more than 400 kilometres on a single charge, according to the dealer Busnex Poland.

Passenger equipment includes a fully low-floor layout, air conditioning, heating and USB charging ports. The buses have also been adapted for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility.

The fleet has been distributed among the three operators serving the Białystok Public Transit System: KPK, KZK and KPKM, which provide the city’s daily public transport services.
