JBM announces it has secured an order for 1,021 electric buses under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 initiative. The total order is valued at approximately Rs 5,500 crore (some approximately €605,766,000) and the buses will be deployed in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana.

The OEM unveiled four e-buses at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and has set a dedicated structure and offer in Europe: JBM is indeed goin to launch its new electric city bus with European homologation in March-April, starting with Germany. Plus, updated electric coach is coming at Busworld in 2025.

JBM awarded 1,000 e-buses in India

The project will be supported by a Payment Security Mechanism (PSM), ensuring timely payments to electric bus operators and enhancing financial sustainability for industry stakeholders, JBM states. Over the next 3-4 years, the company envisions serving over 20 billion passengers and covering 3 billion e-kilometres.

JBM Auto has already deployed around 2,000 electric buses across various geographies, including India, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. With this order, the company’s order book now stands at 11,000+ electric buses in various stages of execution.

What is interesting, JBM states it has established the world’s largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing facility (outside China), located in the Delhi-NCR region, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses.

Speaking on this occasion, Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, JBM Auto, said: “We are proud to be a part of this transformative initiative that aims to revolutionize public mobility to all parts of India. This significant order strengthens our commitment to providing world-class, sustainable, and technologically advanced public mobility solutions. With a strong focus on innovation and infrastructure development, JBM is dedicated to making electric mobility more accessible, efficient, and environment friendly.”
