REMO will deliver 22 battery-electric buses and charging infrastructure for Transdev‘s Mobiave public transport network serving Vila Nova de Famalicão, Santo Tirso and Trofa, in northern Portugal.
The project includes battery-electric buses, charging infrastructure, energy management and maintenance services.
REMO is the electric mobility business of Portuguese infrastructure group Mota-Engil. The company focuses on charging infrastructure, fleet electrification and energy management solutions for public and private transport operators, positioning itself as an integrated provider of electric mobility services backed by the engineering and infrastructure capabilities of the Mota-Engil Group.

E-buses and charging infrastructure for Mobiave network
The contract covers the supply of 22 fully electric 12-metre urban buses provided by Higer. The fleet will be supported by charging infrastructure with a total installed capacity of 2,600 kVA, designed to accommodate 30 ultra-fast charging points rated at up to 300 kW.
According to REMO, the charging system incorporates intelligent energy management capable of real-time monitoring and dynamic power distribution, allowing charging schedules to be managed according to operational requirements while optimising the available electrical capacity.
The company will also provide preventive maintenance and energy management services as part of the contract, covering the vehicle fleet and charging infrastructure within a single service package.
In brief
- Who awarded the contract? Transdev selected REMO through an international public tender.
- What does the project include? Twenty-two 12-metre battery-electric buses, charging infrastructure, energy management and maintenance services.
- What charging infrastructure will be installed? Infrastructure with 2,600 kVA of installed capacity supporting up to 30 charging points rated at up to 300 kW.
- Who manufactures the buses? The vehicles are supplied by REMO and developed in collaboration with Higer.
The electric buses will feature onboard USB charging ports, Wi-Fi connectivity and integrated telematics systems. According to REMO, the telematics platform will enable Transdev to monitor fleet operations in real time and support operational management.
The Mobiave public transport network serves the municipalities of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Santo Tirso and Trofa, carrying tens of thousands of passengers daily across northern Portugal. The project combines vehicle supply, charging infrastructure, energy management and maintenance within a single contract.
Luís Castanheira, CEO of REMO, said: “This project demonstrates what sets REMO apart: our ability to bring together every element required for an efficient and reliable electric transport operation within a single integrated solution. From vehicles and charging infrastructure to smart energy management and maintenance, we deliver end-to-end solutions that enable our clients to accelerate their energy transition and future-proof their operations. This multidisciplinary approach is establishing a new benchmark for public transport electrification across the Iberian Peninsula.”
