Yutong has deployed 68 electric buses in Italy to support transport operations for the Winter Olympics Milano Cortina 2026.

The event opened on 6 February 2026 and is organised under a dual-city hosting model, with competitions distributed across four main zones and eight venues located at significant distances from each other (including some competitions happening in Trentino region – Tesero and Predazzo -, where the buses are deployed). Passenger transport operations are required to cover long intercity connections as well as local services in dense urban and alpine environments.

Yutong electric buses in the Milano Cortina transport network

The fleet supplied for local operator Trentino Trasporti in the occasion of the Milano Cortina event consists of Yutong U12, E12 and E7S battery-electric buses. According to the manufacturer, 20 U12 and 8 E12 buses have already been delivered and deployed, with a further 40 E7S units scheduled to enter service progressively based on operational needs.

The larger U12 and E12 models are assigned to higher-capacity services and longer-distance links between competition areas. The E7S buses, featuring a shorter wheelbase and compact dimensions, are intended for operation in historic city centres and constrained urban areas, supporting local circulation and last-mile connectivity.

Zero-emission operations during and after the winter event

The vehicles have been specified to operate in winter conditions, including snow and low temperatures, and are integrated into local public transport services during the event period.

Following the conclusion of the winter sports event, the 68 Yutong electric buses are expected to remain in operation within local public transport networks in Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo and surrounding areas, continuing their use in regular service.
