Irizar ie bus Efficient wins Spain’s 2026 Bus of the Year award

Irizar e-mobility’s ie bus Efficient, launched last year at Busworld Europe in Brussels, has been named 2026 Bus of the Year in Spain by the National Transport Awards jury.

The recognition was announced during the National Transport Awards ceremony held at the Novotel Madrid Center hotel in Madrid, one of the country’s established annual industry events dedicated to industrial and commercial vehicles. The award places the new Irizar ie bus Efficient among the vehicles formally recognised at national level by Spanish transport operators and sector professionals.

Irizar wins Spain’s Bus of the Year

The National Transport Awards are assigned annually in Spain to industrial vehicles across several categories, including buses, trucks and commercial vehicles. The jury is composed of professionals from transport companies and industry organisations active in the Spanish market. The Bus of the Year award specifically recognises a model launched or updated for urban and interurban public transport service in Spain.

This 2026 award marks the fourth time an Irizar e-mobility bus platform has received this recognition from the same jury. In 2015, the i2e model was awarded Bus of the Year. In 2018, the Irizar ie tram received the distinction and was also recognised as Eco-Friendly Industrial Vehicle of the Year. In 2021, the new-generation Irizar ie bus was again awarded Bus of the Year in Spain.

The award was collected on behalf of the company by Iñigo Azcona, Commercial Director for Spain and Portugal at Irizar e-mobility, during the Madrid ceremony.
