Mobility Move returns to Berlin from 10 to 12 March 2026. The Estrel Berlin hotel hosted in 2025 around 1,500 participants, 150 speakers, and over 100 exhibitors, with more than 20 vehicles on display across 7,500 square meters of exhibition space. The event has grown from its origins as the “VDV Electric Bus Conference and Trade Fair ElekBu” into a hub where operators, manufacturers, service providers, public authorities, policymakers, and associations exchange ideas and explore the future of mobility.

Mobility Move is initiated by the Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen (VDV) and DEVK Versicherungen, while the overall event is organized by the Forum für Verkehr und Logistik. The operational management and coordination of the conference and trade fair are handled by the VDV-Akademie.

Mobility Move 2026 focuses on e-buses, autonomous driving, AI

At Mobility Move, practical insights drive the conversations. Attendees can expect a mix of technical sessions, case studies, and discussions on real-world applications, with a strong focus on electromobility, autonomous driving, AI, digitalization, and workforce development. This year, the conference opens earlier than before with the Forum on AI & Digitalization, while the guest KONTIKI conference highlights digitalization, electronic ticketing, and passenger information, reflecting how rapidly technology is reshaping urban mobility. NOW GmbH and KONTIKI e.V. appear as additional partners for next edition.

The 2026 edition will also feature high-level institutional and thought-leadership contributions. Patrick Schnieder MdB, Federal Minister of Transport at the Bundesministerium für Verkehr (BMV), will participate in the conference, underlining the event’s relevance for national and European transport policy. In addition, futurologist Tristan Horx will deliver the keynote address titled “Mobility of the future: a human right,” offering a forward-looking perspective on how societal change, accessibility and technology will shape the next phase of public mobility.

Electromobility remains central, exploring everything from sustainable depots and grid integration to battery innovations and hydrogen-powered solutions. Autonomous driving continues its rise, covering market ramp-up, model regions, regulation, and the labour-market implications of automated buses and robo-taxis. Meanwhile, the AI and digitalization programme examines practical applications, data standards, and IT architectures, helping operators understand not just what is possible, but what is feasible and valuable in daily operations. Workforce-related topics are integrated across the technical forums, emphasizing that people remain as important as technology in the shift toward cleaner, smarter public transport.

Martin Schmitz, managing director technology of the VDV, states: “Regardless of whether it is electromobility, autonomous driving, AI & digitalization or personnel: at Mobility Move, the focus is practical use and added value for the participants. For example, apart from the many promises in the AI & digitalization forum, we take a realistic look at the reasonable possible uses of new technologies.”

Michael Küster, managing director Forum für Verkehr und Logistik (FVL): “Participants can look forward to a diverse exhibition covering around 7,500 square meters in three halls. A large number of national and international manufacturers of vehicles, components as well as service providers and other providers related to the various conference topics will be present. The highlights are around 20 vehicles in the exhibition – including autonomous shuttles and buses with fuel cell drives.”

Depot-first autonomy for European smartbuses

For more than a decade, autonomous buses have been “almost ready.” Demonstrations with safety drivers began around 2015, and ten years later, this is still largely what we see. The reason is not a lack of ambition – it is physics, safety, and economics. Autonomous buses on city streets a...
