Altamount sets up Ignite for AI development, Peak Mobility deploys predictive planning for e-bus operations

Altamount Software has established Altamount Ignite, a new entity dedicated to integrating artificial intelligence functions into software used by public administrations, transport operators, utilities and critical infrastructure operators.

The company, part of CHAPTERS Group AG, says the new unit will work across Altamount’s operating companies, developing AI applications directly within existing software products and workflows. According to Altamount, the approach is designed without requiring customers to migrate data to separate applications or introduce additional software tools.

Altamount states that the AI developments will comply with data protection requirements, with data remaining in Europe and information provided on where AI applications operate, which data they use and how their results are generated.

Peak Mobility applies AI to public transport and e-bus planning

Public transport is among the first fields where Altamount reports applications already in use or under development. Within the group’s mobility activities, Peak Mobility’s public transport dispatching system is now using predictive planning beyond the next vehicle assignment and takes additional criteria relevant to electric bus operations into account, according to Altamount.

Peak Mobility is the former PSI Transcom GmbH and belongs to the same Altamount group in which Ignite has been established. Altamount acquired PSI Transcom from PSI Software SE in December 2024; the company became part of Altamount Software GmbH in March 2025 and was renamed Peak Mobility GmbH in September 2025.

Peak Mobility provides software for public transport and rail operators, including depot management, train management, operations control and personnel scheduling. The company states that its activities in the sector date back more than 40 years.

Altamount also identifies Profahr among the mobility products being developed under the AI programme. The staff scheduling solution is being rebuilt with a generative AI interface designed to allow users to adjust rosters using natural-language commands.

According to Altamount, these mobility applications are among the first results of the group-wide AI initiative.

Altamount Ignite to work across the group’s software companies

According to Altamount, the technical basis for Ignite has already been developed through the group’s internal AI Hub. The infrastructure provides operating companies with access to current AI models while keeping data within their own networks.

Personal and confidential information is filtered, while individual companies can establish their own knowledge bases and AI assistants. Applications developed by one Altamount company can subsequently be reused by other businesses within the group, Altamount says.

Ignite will work directly with the operating companies, their product managers and reference customers. The new entity will provide a shared technical infrastructure and development resources and will also coordinate external technology partners.

The initiative covers several of Altamount’s verticals. The applications currently being developed include public transport planning and staff scheduling, digital workflows for police and emergency services, mailbox management and anomaly detection for energy-sector meter reading and billing data.

AI applications also target administration, energy and workflow software

Outside mobility, Altamount says icomedias is integrating locally operated AI functions into its forms and workflow software for police and emergency services. Applications include image analysis, transcription and document summarisation.

GBS is introducing AI functions into its IQ.Suite software, beginning with an agent for shared mailboxes. Altamount says the application is intended to reduce the amount of manual processing associated with shared email accounts.

Within the energy vertical, Somentec is developing AI-based anomaly detection for meter-reading and billing data. According to Altamount, the application targets manual processing and data quality within these workflows.

Ignite will also support additional companies joining Altamount, with further AI applications currently under preparation, the company states.
