Lithuanian minibus and midibus manufacturer Altas Auto has reached 10,000 vehicles produced since its establishment in 2002, with the milestone unit being an electric Mercedes eSprinter equipped with an Altas Auto Ecoline body and destined for a customer in Norway.
The vehicle rolled off the production line at the company’s manufacturing facility near Vilnius in mid-October 2026. According to Altas Auto, the manufacturer currently has an annual production capacity of approximately 800 buses, with vehicles operating in more than 30 countries.
The milestone comes ahead of the company’s 25th anniversary, scheduled for 2027, and almost a quarter of a century after its first vehicle, a diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz bus manufactured for a Lithuanian customer.
Altas Auto underwent a management change in early 2025, when founder Edvardas Radzevičius stepped down from the CEO position after 23 years and moved to the company’s board of directors, with Ignas Pranskevičius appointed as the new chief executive. The transition happened in the middle of a period of industrial expansion: in 2025, Altas Auto reported more than 900 vehicles ordered, up 45% compared with 2024, while preparing the introduction of its electric eSprinter range and establishing Altas Trade as a dedicated business for the commercialization of partner-developed vehicles. Pranskevičius, who also outlined the company’s industrial and product development plans in an interview with Sustainable Bus, ended his tenure in spring 2026. Radzevičius subsequently returned to the CEO position, restoring the management arrangement that had been in place before the 2025 transition.

Altas Auto reaches 10,000 vehicles produced in Lithuania
Founded in 2002 as a company specializing in special-purpose vehicle conversions, Altas Auto has progressively expanded its activities into the manufacturing of minibuses and midibuses for international markets.
The company initially operated in Lithuania before extending its commercial presence to more than 30 countries. Its manufacturing activities are based on OEM vehicles and selected components supplied by external manufacturers, while Altas Auto carries out its own engineering, integration and production processes.
According to the Lithuanian manufacturer, its in-house activities include vehicle architecture engineering, body modifications, electrical systems, interior development, component integration and vehicle certification.

The company’s production model combines a series manufacturing line with customer-specific engineering, allowing individual vehicles to be configured according to the technical and operational requirements of different customers.
Electric Mercedes-Benz eSprinter with Altas Ecoline body
The 10,000th vehicle manufactured by Altas Auto is based on the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric platform and features an Ecoline body developed by the Lithuanian manufacturer.
The vehicle has been configured for a Norwegian customer, with its body, interior and onboard technology adapted to the client’s specifications.
Altas Auto is preparing to mark its 25th anniversary in 2027, with its manufacturing activities covering customized minibuses and midibuses for customers across European and international markets.

CEO Edvardas Radzevičius commented on the production milestone: “When we started the company from scratch in 2002, we certainly did not expect that one day we would be celebrating our 10,000th vehicle. There is also a special symbolism in the fact that our first vehicle was a diesel Mercedes-Benz bus for a Lithuanian customer, while vehicle No. 10,000 is an electric Mercedes-Benz bus for Norway. It says a lot about the journey of ALTAS AUTO and about how our industry has changed,” said Radzevičius.
