Following the spin-off of the Commercial Vehicles division of Voith Turbo, the new company Driventic is born, with drive technologies for commercial vehicles as core business. Driventic’s debut will be celebrated at Busworld Europe 2025.
The company officially will enter the market on November 1, 2025 as a spin-off from the Commercial Vehicles division of Voith. Not many information have been shared so far: at the moment the new company has a Linkedin profile and a – quite empty – website.
As reported on UK-based trade media Truck and Bus Builder, the ultimate goal is for Driventic to operate as a wholly separate entity under new ownership, as Voith Group plans to divest entirely from the commercial vehicle sector.
From Voith to Driventic: drives for commercial vehicles
The Voith Electrical Drive System for buses, developed and offered until now by Voith’s Commercial Vehicles division, will become part of Driventic’s portfolio. It powers over 1,000 e-buses in UK as of July 2025, as it was adopted by both domestic manufacturers Alexander Dennis and Wrightbus. Also Otokar turned to the VEDS for its e-Territo.
Voith business units for industrial, marine, and rail applications will remain part of Voith group.
Driventic will operate out of Heidenheim and 26 other locations in 19 countries thanks to 1,400 employees. Although now independent, Driventic builds on Voith’s decades of experience in drive systems. The company develops integrated drive solutions and digital services for both conventional and electric powertrains.
At Busworld Europe 2025, Driventic will present its corporate identity for the first time and provide a preview of upcoming products, systems, and digital services.
The 1,400 employees at 27 locations in 19 countries are joining forces with the experienced management team to pursue an ambitious goal: mobility that doesn’t leave any traces behind – except progress.
Driventic: VEDS, DIWA, TurboCompound…
Driventic product range “comprises integrated systems and digital services that are redefining efficiency and sustainability in the commercial vehicle industry. All solutions are technological refinements and advancements of Voith products”, the company states in a press note. They include, as mentioned, the electrical drive systems VEDS and VEDS 1.5, automatic transmissions DIWA and DIWA NXT, retarders and air compressors, the TurboCompound transmission solution, and Hydrodamp vibration damper.

“Thanks to the agility that its future independent status will provide, and the professionalism of a highly qualified team, Driventic is in an ideal position to take global mobility to the next level in collaboration with its partners”, reads the press note.
“Busworld Europe is our most important trade fair for the commercial vehicle industry. We are therefore especially pleased to be able to present Driventic there for the first time under the new brand name and give customers, partners and suppliers an initial impression of our future identity,” says Dr. Gregor Wiche, CEO Commercial Vehicles (soon to be Driventic). He adds: “Above all, we will push the further development of electrical drive systems. At the same time, we intend to secure and expand our strong market position in conventional solutions so as to be able to offer customers futureproof products in both areas of technology”.
