Flixbus parent group Flix announces it has acquired a majority stake in Flibco, a European platform specializing in airport transfer services.
The transaction marks the German group’s structured entry into the airport shuttle segment and represents a further step in its strategy to integrate mobility offerings across Europe, complementing long-distance coach services with a high-frequency segment characterized by stable demand.
Founded in 2005, Flibco was previously controlled by SLG (formerly Sales-Lentz Group), a Luxembourg-based transport group. Following the deal, SLG will remain a minority shareholder and strategic partner, continuing to play an active role in the company’s development. Financial details of the transaction, as well as entity of the majority stake, have not been disclosed.

Flibco becomes part of Flixbus
For Flix, the acquisition broadens its operational scope beyond intercity long-distance connections, adding a complementary service focused on airport access. The move aligns with market trends pointing to growing demand for airport transfer services in Europa, as highlighted in the 2025 study “The long-distance coach market in Europe | Year 2019–2024” conducted by Traspol, the Transport Policy Laboratory of Politecnico di Milano, in cooperation with Checkmybus.com, as noted by Italian trade media (and our sister platform) Autobusweb.
Flix highlights that it has already launched shuttle services in selected markets, such as Sweden, and has long provided long-distance connections to major airports across Europe. With Flibco, the group now formalizes its presence in the segment through a platform with established expertise and operations.
Operating in seven European countries through partnerships with local operators, Flibco has positioned itself as one of the leading players in the airport shuttle market. Its asset-light business model, combined with a strong focus on digitalization, online booking and data-driven service management, makes the platform highly compatible with Flix’s technological ecosystem.

In the short term, customers will continue to book tickets via flibco.com. At a later stage, Flibco routes will also be made available through FlixBus channels, enabling passengers to combine long-distance intercity travel and airport shuttle services within a single booking.
The transaction does not entail changes to Flibco’s management structure. The company will continue to operate from its Luxembourg headquarters under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Tobias Stüber, pursuing its expansion strategy as part of the Flix group. SLG, as a minority shareholder, will contribute its expertise in regional and international transport, reinforcing the industrial positioning of the platform.
Flibco: expansion is coming, with Flixbus
André Schwämmlein, Chief Executive Officer of Flix: “We have observed over the years a clear demand for reliable and affordable transport options to and from airports, in addition to travel between cities. This investment allows us to expand in the airport transport segment in a targeted way. Flibco has built a solid business in a fragmented market, and we are confident that by leveraging Flix’s technological infrastructure and extensive international network, we can further unlock its potential.”
Tobias Stüber, Chief Executive Officer of Flibco: “The agreement with Flix marks an important chapter in our growth story. We share the same goal of enabling more sustainable travel for everyone. By combining Flibco’s innovation drive and operational excellence with Flix’s global network, we will expand rapidly into new markets. At the same time, we will continue to offer our passengers a smart travel experience defined by high standards of comfort and reliability.”
Marc Sales, Associate at SLG: “The idea behind Flibco was born from a clear objective: to become the leader in airport mobility. Having a strong partner that shares this ambition represents a major turning point for us. As a family-owned company, innovation has always been at the core of what we do, and Flibco reflects that spirit. Now, with Flix by our side, we can pursue this vision internationally and create new opportunities for the entire group.”
