Solaris has unveiled at Busworld the Urbino 10,5 electric, offering the maneuverability needed in dense city centers while accommodating up to 85 passengers – the best result in its class, as the manufacturer stresses. “This balance of agility and productivity makes the Urbino 10,5 electric a practical choice for operators running services on diverse routes”, Solaris states.
Alongside the world premiere of the Urbino 10,5 electric, Solaris also showcased at Busworld the Urbino 18 hydrogen, recently named Bus of the Year 2025, and the Urbino 12 electric, winner of the Sustainable Bus Award 2025. All three are equipped with the modular drive system, demonstrating the benefits of shared solutions across different lengths of the Urbino range.

Solaris Urbino 10,5 electric: modular drive system is king
Solaris underlines that the “quiet electric drive and stable handling reduce vibrations and noise, ensuring a more pleasant experience for everyone on board. For the driver, this also means less fatigue during long shifts. Its turning circle of less than 17 meters makes everyday maneuvers in heavy traffic much easier, especially on routes with narrow streets and tight intersections”.
A full range of driver assistance systems supports the driver in daily operation – many of them compliant with the latest GSR2 regulations, and in some cases going beyond these requirements.
At the heart of the new model is the modular drive system. The modular design of the drive system positions its components across the vehicle, allowing the elimination of the traditional engine tower. This not only increases passenger space and improves weight distribution, but also creates more room on the roof. Maintenance is further simplified: technicians can reach driveline components from ground level, the HV cables are shorter, and – importantly – the Urbino 10,5 electric uses the same key systems as the Urbino 12 electric. This translates into less complexity and lower costs for operators.
Two other Solaris models showcased at Busworld also feature modular drive, highlighting the advantages of standardized solutions across the Urbino range.

Solaris Urbino 10,5 electric: range, charging and sustainability
The bus is powered by Solaris High Energy batteries. Based on Solaris’ experience and studies, these batteries ensure uninterrupted operation throughout the day without the need for recharging in most cases, the manufacturer underlines.
Operators can choose between CCS2 plug-in or pantograph charging.

Sustainability also plays an important role. The Urbino 10,5 electric achieves almost 97% recyclability and features a CO₂ heat pump air conditioning system – a solution with one of the lowest environmental impacts available today.
Thanks to Solaris’ eSConnect fleet management platform, operators can also improve energy efficiency in everyday service. Together, these elements support cities in meeting their ESG commitments and reducing the overall footprint of public transport.
Solaris portfolio is now complete
With the addition of the Urbino 10,5 electric, “Solaris strengthens its position as one of the few manufacturers offering the widest range of public transport solutions – from low-emission options to a complete zero-emission portfolio covering battery, hydrogen, and trolleybus models – available across vehicle lengths from 9 to 24 meters – the Polish company states -. For operators, it means the flexibility to choose the optimal vehicle for every type of traffic condition and passenger flow”.
