To find out who the three winners of the Sustainable Bus Awards 2026 will be, we’ll have to wait until the Busworld Gala Night, scheduled for October 3rd during Busworld Europe in Brussels — the sector’s leading international trade fair. In the meantime, however, the 14 finalist vehicles that will compete for the awards in the three traditional categories — Urban, Intercity, and Coach — have officially been announced today, July 2nd.

Among the models shortlisted (see following paragraph), some represent true product debuts, having not been publicly presented before. Notably, the BYD B18.b (we reported about it coming from a PEI Mobility’s press release), the Iveco Bus G-Way, the Solaris Urbino 10.5 Electric (announced earlier this year), and the BYD 12.b HF, which promises to enrich the growing list of intercity electric buses on the European market.

The Sustainable Bus Award is an international recognition promoted by a panel of trade media journalists from ten different European countries. More than just a showcase of vehicle specs, the award aims to highlight models that best interpret the values of sustainability in public transport — combining innovation, efficiency, and environmental impact with a broader view of vehicle role and usability within a modern transport ecosystem.

The evaluation process, ongoing over the coming months, will include a detailed assessment of each model’s technological advancements, energy efficiency, safety systems, and their contribution to the ecological transition.

With the Sustainable Bus Awards 2026, the spotlight remains firmly on the vehicles — and manufacturers — working to redefine the standards of passenger mobility in Europe and beyond.
