Switch Mobility secures 840-electric-bus order for Delhi under PM E-Drive scheme

Switch Mobility has secured an order from Antony Road Transport Solutions for 840 electric buses to be deployed in Delhi under Phase I of India’s PM E-Drive scheme.

The order, announced by Switch Mobility on 28 September, is equally divided between 420 9-metre and 420 12-metre air-conditioned electric buses. The vehicles will be deployed with Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Transport Department of Delhi for passenger services in the Indian capital.

The agreement has been signed between Switch Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group, and Antony Road Transport Solutions, which was selected as the operator for Delhi under the CESL PM E-Drive Phase I tender.

Switch Mobility to supply 420 9-metre and 420 12-metre electric buses

The Delhi award follows a broader series of large-scale electric bus procurements in India. In January 2026, CESL launched a tender covering 6,230 electric buses under PM E-Drive and Delhi’s public transport programme, including 3,330 vehicles for Delhi and 2,900 for other cities. Switch Mobility has also secured an order for 650 nine-metre electric buses for Mumbai and Pune under PM E-Drive Phase II. The 840-unit contract covers two vehicle lengths, with 420 9-metre electric buses and an equal number of 12-metre vehicles.

According to Switch Mobility, all buses will be equipped with air conditioning and deployed across Delhi’s public transport network through DTC and the Delhi Transport Department.

The manufacturer did not disclose the contract value, delivery schedule, battery capacity, driving range or charging specifications for the vehicles in its announcement.

Antony Road Transport Solutions will operate the vehicles following its selection under the CESL tender.

The order was awarded within Phase I of the Government of India’s PM E-Drive scheme and has been formalized directly between Switch Mobility and Antony Road Transport Solutions.
