VinFast will introduce its electric bus range in the United States through a partnership with NexMove, with certified vehicles expected to begin deliveries in the first quarter of 2028.

VinFast announced its entry into the U.S. electric bus market at APTA 2026 TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago, where the Vietnamese manufacturer disclosed an initial partnership agreement with NexMove, a joint venture between Transportation Management Services (TMS) and Zeem Solutions.

Under the agreement, NexMove will offer VinFast electric buses to U.S. customers through an as-a-service model covering vehicles, charging, maintenance and operations. Before homologated vehicles become available, demonstration buses will be deployed at Zeem EV charging depots for evaluation by fleet operators and transit agencies.

The U.S. announcement follows VinFast’s expansion of its electric bus activities outside Vietnam. The manufacturer entered the European electric bus segment with the EB8 and EB12 at Busworld Europe 2025. In May 2026, Sustainable Bus reported from the company’s Hai Phong industrial complex that European-specification EB8 and EB12 models were under development, with the plant stating an annual bus production capacity of 3,000 units.

VinFast electric buses to reach U.S. customers from Q1 2028

According to VinFast, certified and homologated electric buses are expected to begin deliveries to U.S. customers in the first quarter of 2028. The demonstration vehicles deployed ahead of that date will be non-homologated units intended exclusively for evaluation. At APTA Expo VinFast has on display a EB10 and a EB8 models.

NexMove’s commercial model will combine the electric bus, charging infrastructure, maintenance and operations within a single agreement. The company states that it intends to provide a 97% uptime service-level agreement.

VinFast says its electric buses incorporate driver-assistance systems using cameras and radar to provide real-time safety alerts. The vehicles also feature connected systems covering charging, maintenance and service, together with communication and connectivity functions for operating staff and passengers.

The manufacturer lists fast-charging capability, anti-corrosion protection and LFP battery technology among the technical features of the range. Warranty provisions will also form part of the U.S. electric bus offer.

NexMove plans to position the initial demonstration vehicles at charging depots operated by Zeem Solutions. These buses will allow transit agencies and other fleet operators to evaluate the vehicles before the arrival of the certified versions intended for commercial deployment.

NexMove was founded by Transportation Management Services (TMS) founder and chairman Frank Sherman and Zeem Solutions founder and CEO Paul Gioupis, combining passenger transportation operations with EV charging infrastructure expertise. The company provides an integrated bus electrification offer covering vehicles, charging, operations and maintenance. TMS brings more than 30 years of passenger transportation experience, while Zeem has completed more than 400,000 charging sessions at Los Angeles International Airport with over 98% uptime.

Around 2,000 VinFast electric buses operating in Vietnam

VinFast states that approximately 2,000 of its electric buses are currently operating in Vietnam. The company has developed activities covering electric bus manufacturing, operation and maintenance in major Vietnamese cities.

During a Sustainable Bus visit to VinFast and VinBus operations in Hanoi in May 2026, around 600 of those approximately 2,000 vehicles were operated directly by sister company VinBus. The VinBus fleet had completed roughly 73 million kilometres by the end of 2025. At the Ocean Park depot in Hanoi, 40 charging units can charge up to 80 buses simultaneously, while vehicle maintenance is scheduled every 5,000 kilometres.

VinFast’s international electric bus activities also extend to Europe and India. In India, the manufacturer has formalized plans for dedicated electric bus manufacturing capacity in Tamil Nadu. The agreement covers the allocation of approximately 500 acres adjacent to VinFast’s existing Thoothukudi facility for new workshops and production lines dedicated to electric buses and e-scooters. The project is part of the second phase of VinFast’s USD 2 billion investment commitment in India.
