MPK Lublin and Solaris have signed a contract for the delivery of 20 Trollino 12 trolleybuses, scheduled for the first months of 2027.
Lublin is one of three Polish cities—alongside Gdynia and Tychy (where 18 Solaris trolleybuses will be delivered in 2026) —that operate trolleybuses as part of their public transport systems. To date, more than 80 Solaris trolleybuses have already been delivered to the city. With this order, Solaris will have delivered more than 120 zero-emission vehicles to Lublin (with a latest e-bus order dating back to 2021), including trolleybuses as well as battery-electric and hydrogen buses
Solaris to deliver trolleybuses in Lublin
The ordered 12-metre Trollino vehicles will combine a traditional trolleybus drivetrain with onboard batteries, allowing operation beyond the overhead line network. The batteries will be charged while connected to the catenary system, increasing operational flexibility. The trolleybuses will also feature a preconditioning function to optimise interior temperature prior to departure, supporting both passenger comfort and energy efficiency.
The vehicles will be equipped with Solaris’ eSConnect system, enabling remote monitoring, diagnostics and operational support. In line with General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2), the trolleybuses will include advanced safety systems such as Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) and Moving Off Information System (MOIS), aimed at improving the protection of pedestrians and cyclists.
Each Trollino 12 will accommodate up to 80 passengers, including 29 seated. Additional equipment will include a comprehensive interior and exterior monitoring system, USB charging ports and a passenger counting system.
Agata Stańda, CEO of Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o., said: “Lublin is now among the leaders of electromobility in Poland, and we are proud that our vehicles genuinely support this development. Our cooperation with MPK Lublin spans almost three decades and includes over 120 zero-emission vehicles delivered. The contract for 20 Trollino 12 trolleybuses is another step in building one of the most advanced electromobility networks in Poland.”
