Driventic has introduced its new Electric Air Compressor (EAC) for electric trucks and buses, with series production planned for the end of 2027.

Driventic is set to present its new Electric Air Compressor (EAC), a compressed air system developed for battery-electric commercial vehicles, at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, in addition to the already-anticipated VEDS 2.2. Designed for global deployment, the system integrates the compressor, electric motor, cooling, oil management and monitoring functions into a single package intended for trucks and buses.

According to Driventic, the first production units are scheduled for the end of 2027 following validation and field trials.

Two-stage electric air compressor for heavy-duty vehicles

The EAC is based on a two-stage reciprocating compressor featuring an independent oil system and either water or refrigerant cooling. The integrated package includes the electric motor, silencers, oil circuit, heat exchangers and sensors.

According to Driventic, the two-stage compression process reduces energy consumption by up to 35% compared with conventional compressor solutions. The company states that the system has been designed to combine energy efficiency with durability and low noise levels for continuous commercial vehicle operation.

The compressor incorporates mass-balancing systems together with insulation measures intended to reduce vibration and acoustic emissions during operation.

Modular architecture with operation up to 15 bar

Driventic says the EAC has been developed for continuous-duty applications and features a modular architecture designed to reduce maintenance requirements and operating costs. Maintenance intervals are specified at up to four years or 24,000 operating hours for trucks and up to four years or 12,000 operating hours for buses, depending on vehicle operating profiles.

The company adds that the compressor is designed to maintain stable output under varying climatic and operating conditions while supporting both short- and long-distance commercial vehicle applications.

A key technical specification is operating pressure of up to 15 bar. Driventic states that this pressure capability is available in the electric commercial vehicle segment and positions the EAC for heavy-duty compressed air applications requiring higher operating pressures.
