EKA Mobility, in partnership with GreenCell Mobility, has received a Letter of Award (LOA) for deploying 915 electric buses in Hyderabad. The same ‘duo’ of EKA and GreenCell Mobility has recently delivered 75 e-buses in Puducherry.
This project is part of the Government of India’s PM E-DRIVE initiative, implemented through CESL, which focuses on accelerating the shift towards electric mobility nationwide. The Indian electric bus market reached 4,441 units (+19%) last year.
The scope of the order, as outlined in EKA press note, includes 100 units of 9-meter buses (presented in 2024) and 815 units of 12-meter standard-floor non-AC buses.
Over 900 EKA e-buses coming to Hyderabad
These buses are designed to support city operations with improved efficiency, reliability, and enhanced passenger comfort, while contributing to zero-emission public transport.
This latest award adds to EKA Mobility’s growing portfolio under CESL programs, following earlier allocations under the PM E-Bus Seva scheme across states such as Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Puducherry, and Meghalaya.
Speaking on the development, Rohit Srivastava, Business Head and Chief Growth Officer at EKA Mobility, noted that the order reinforces confidence in the company’s technological capabilities and execution strength. He highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting Hyderabad’s journey towards a cleaner and more efficient urban mobility ecosystem in line with the national PM E-DRIVE vision.
The PM E-DRIVE program represents a key Government of India initiative aimed at boosting electric vehicle adoption, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, and addressing urban pollution challenges.
