The 800th electric bus hits the streets of Moscow. The vehicle was assembled at the innovative SVARZ eco-plant by KAMAZ, which was opened in April. This electric bus has become the 200th vehicle purchased with the funds from the green bonds. The 800th Moscow electric bus is owned by Mosgortrans which is the main operator of urban surface public transport of the city. The new bus is now operating in the south of the city.

Electric buses were launched in the Moscow just 3 years ago, in 2018. They are now running on 61 bus routes. 58 million kilometers have been covered, over 128 million passengers have been carried, The Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development says. Nowadays there are more than 150 charging structures in the city. By the end of 2023 this number will increase up to 500 stations.

«In 2021, Moscow has stopped buying diesel buses for the surface public transport operator. Today the city is focused on eco-friendly alternatives and is keeping up with worldwide electric vehicle market trends. Moscow is considered to have the largest electric bus fleet in Europe. According to the Moscow Department of Transport, all the city routes will be operated by eco-friendly buses by the 2030. To achieve the goal, the Government of Moscow will buy more than 500 electric buses per year as well as develop an innovative hydrogen bus model together with KAMAZ and RUSNANO,» said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
