Solaris to deliver buses to GZM Metropolis
This is Solaris’ second contract with GZM Metropolis. The previous order, signed in 2022, involved 32 electric buses delivered in 2023 to operators in Katowice, Gliwice, Sosnowiec, and Świerklaniec.
The Urbino 12 electric and Urbino 18 electric buses are designed with a modular drive, eliminating the engine tower to increase passenger space. The 12-metre buses carry up to 70 passengers, while the articulated versions accommodate up to 120 passengers. Energy is supplied by Solaris High Energy batteries, with capacities of 600 kWh for the 12-metre models and 800 kWh for the articulated buses. Charging is via a plug-in connector, with a display showing the charging status.
Safety and passenger comfort are enhanced through a range of driver assistance and monitoring systems, including a speed assistant, advanced interior and exterior cameras, passenger counting, and dual USB ports. The operator has also chosen the eSConnect fleet management system, which provides advanced telematics and predictive diagnostics.
Both models include a preconditioning system to maintain a comfortable temperature in the driver’s cabin and passenger area during and after charging, controllable remotely via eSConnect.
