Carrier MZK Toruń has added 40 Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses to its fleet. The handover took place on Tuesday, 9 June, with representatives of Miejski Zakład Komunikacyjny in Toruń and Solaris Bus & Coach attending the ceremony. The delivery follows the contract signed in May 2025, under which Solaris will also supply charging infrastructure for the operator.
The first e-bus contract between the public transport operator and Solaris dates back to 2020 and included 10 vehicles.

According to Solaris, the latest delivery expands the zero-emission fleet that MZK Toruń has been developing since 2022. With the 40 new vehicles now added, 50 fully electric Solaris buses will operate on the city’s streets.
Toruń is a major regional city (200,000 inabithants) in north-central Poland, situated along the Vistula River roughly halfway between Warsaw and the Baltic Sea coast.

The cooperation between Solaris and Toruń dates back to 2010. Since then, Solaris has delivered 189 buses to the city. In recent years, most of the vehicles supplied have been low-emission or zero-emission models, according to Solaris.
Charging infrastructure included in the 2025 contract
Alongside the buses, Solaris will provide charging infrastructure for MZK Toruń. The scope includes plug-in chargers and pantograph chargers located both at the depot and across the city, enabling fast charging operations.
The Urbino 12 electric buses delivered under the contract are low-floor and fully air-conditioned. Each bus is fitted with safety systems compliant with GSR2, including Blind Spot Information System for cyclist detection in blind spots and Moving Off Information System for detecting pedestrians and cyclists in front of the vehicle when the bus pulls away.
“We are pleased that another 40 battery-electric buses from Solaris have joined the fleet of MZK Toruń. The new zero-emission fleet represents a continuation of the investment in sustainable public transport for the residents of the city and surrounding areas,” says Mateusz Figaszewski from Solaris Bus & Coach.
