Wrightbus e-buses for sightseeing

Also in the sightseeing segment, Equipmake has been awarded a contract to repower 10 open-top tour buses for use on London sightseeing services (followed by another contract for further ten units). Also, remaining in London, Tootbus announced in late 2023 it has engaged drive systems specialist Magtec to repower a fleet of 15 open top double-decker buses for its sightseeing services in central London.

Richy Graham, operations manager at City Sightseeing Glasgow, said: “The launch of our fleet of our electric buses is a great example of the important role our city tours play in sustainable tourism and making Glasgow a greener and more attractive destination for visitors from all over the world.”

As noted by trade media Route One, “Eight such open-toppers are also to be used on City Sightseeing Oxford duties by Oxford Bus Company as part of an order for 104 Wrightbus battery-electric buses by the Go-Ahead Group subsidiary“.
