Austrian bus operator Ledermair has commissioned what is described as Tyrol’s largest electric bus depot, featuring a 2.4 MW charging system supplied by Kempower and installed by implementation partner vlotte vkw to support the operation of its battery-electric bus fleet.
The carrier ordered 27 MAN Lion’s City E buses in late 2024.

Kempower’s chargers for Ledermair electric bus depot
The depot is equipped with 28 Kempower charging points powered by four Kempower Power Units, delivering a combined charging capacity of 2.4 MW. According to the company, the system has been designed to support intensive daily bus operations through scheduled charging and battery preconditioning, while optimizing electricity demand on the grid.
The installation has also been designed with future fleet expansion in mind. Kempower states that each Power Unit can be upgraded to 600 kW, allowing the charging system to be expanded to 32 charging points. Charging operations are managed through the company’s ChargEye cloud-based platform, which enables dynamic load distribution and charging management.
In brief
- What has Ledermair commissioned? The company has opened Tyrol’s largest electric bus depot with a 2.4 MW charging infrastructure.
- What charging equipment has been installed? The depot features four Kempower Power Units supplying 28 charging points, with expansion capability to 32 charging points.
- Who delivered the project? Kempower supplied the charging technology, while Austrian partner vlotte vkw carried out the installation.
- How is charging managed? The depot uses Kempower’s ChargEye cloud-based platform for charging management and dynamic load distribution.
“Other market solutions were unsuitable for the specific spatial requirements at the depot, whereas the highly flexible Kempower hardware was ideal for us,” explains Philipp Österle, Managing Director of vlotte vkw.
“The decision to go with Kempower was an easy one, as the systems impress with excellent safety features and uncompromising reliability,“ explains Alexander Ledermair, Managing Director of Ledermair. “The technology has proven itself in the market and provides us with precisely the adaptability we need here on site.
