VEV claims it now supports more than 25% of the UK’s electric bus fleet, with its charging infrastructure and energy management services deployed across operators including Stagecoach and Nottingham City Transport.
The commercial fleet electrification specialist announced the milestone on 4 November 2026, reporting that its services currently cover more than 6,000 electric commercial vehicles across Europe, including over 5,000 in the UK. The figures, released by VEV, include vehicles supported through its fleet electrification, charging infrastructure and energy management operations.
The company’s activities span fleet electrification strategy, depot charging infrastructure, energy management and operational support. Its portfolio includes projects involving the deployment of charging facilities and the integration of electric buses into centralised fleet management systems.
VEV charging projects with Nottingham City Transport and Stagecoach
Among VEV’s recent projects is the installation of depot charging infrastructure for Nottingham City Transport (NCT), supporting the operator’s expanding electric bus fleet.
The latest additions include six new electric double-decker buses, which entered service in October 2026, according to Nottingham City Transport. The charging infrastructure supplied by VEV forms part of the operator’s electric bus deployment programme.

VEV has also completed a charging infrastructure project at Stagecoach’s Gillmoss depot in Liverpool, involving the installation of high-powered charging equipment.
According to the company, the project includes the deployment of charging infrastructure at the Gillmoss facility and the transition of Stagecoach’s entire electric bus fleet onto VEV IQ, its intelligent charging and energy management platform.
VEV IQ platform integrates energy management
VEV IQ is the company’s digital platform for managing electric vehicle charging and energy operations. According to VEV, the system provides real-time visibility and control of vehicles, charging infrastructure and on-site energy assets through a single interface.
The platform is designed to support charging optimisation, energy management and the monitoring of electric fleet operations. Its functions cover the coordination of vehicle charging with available energy resources and depot infrastructure.
VEV’s service portfolio also includes fleet electrification planning and operational support, covering the different stages of electric bus deployment, from initial infrastructure strategy to day-to-day charging management.

Simon Cubitt, Commercial Director (Bus and Coach) for VEV, said: “Reaching the point where VEV is supporting more than a quarter of the UK’s electric bus fleet is a significant milestone, not just for our business but for the industry as a whole. Operators are moving from individual depot projects to large-scale fleet electrification, and that brings new challenges around infrastructure, energy management and operational performance. Through projects with operators such as Nottingham City Transport and Stagecoach, we’ve seen first-hand how a joined-up approach to vehicles, charging and energy can help make electrification work at scale. As the transition gathers pace, our focus remains on helping operators deliver reliable, cost-effective zero-emission services for the communities they serve.”
