Minibus production is going at full pace and the cooperation with Zhongtong leading to the entry in the EV midibus segment is rewarded with 90 units expected to be delivered in 2025. At the same time, Lithuanian minibus specialist Altas Auto is opening a new business focusing on the commercialization of partners’ products with the newly founded entity Altas Trade and preparing the launch of the Altas e-Sprinter next year.

On Tuesday December 2nd we had the change to visit Altas Auto’s headquarters and plants in Vilnius, Lithuania. Production areas demonstrate a structured manufacturing process, with rigorous quality-control procedures ensuring standardization across two vehicle lines. The main production line counts on 33 tacts. A full production cycle takes 2 weeks.

Altas Auto: over 900 units ordered in 2025 (+45%)

The company is undergoing a leadership transition as founder and long-standing chief executive Edvardas Radzevičius moved from operational management to a position on the company’s board of directors. After 23 years in the role, Radzevičius handed over responsibilities, at the beginning of 2025, to external manager Ignas Pranskevičius.

Industrial growth is clear in internal figures. Annual orders for both the core minibus range (Altas Auto builds its minibus range on Mercedes Sprinter and MAN TGE chassis, with TGE-based production representing a smaller share at roughly 50 to 100 units per year) and the special-vehicle division have increased steadily over the past decade: the expectation is to get over the 900-units tresold this year in terms of orders, thanks to 803 minibuses and 103 Novus City V7. In 2024 Altas was ordered 620 units: it means a growth of +45%. The workforce has grown too, from nearly 150 employees in 2015 to over 300 expected in 2025.

Financial performance mirrors this trajectory. Turnover rose from €12.9 million in 2015 to €56 million in 2024, with further growth anticipated for 2025: the company expects to achieve 95 million euros. Export remains a pillar of Altas’ strategy, with international markets now representing roughly 80 percent of the business.

What is new, Altas Trade represents a strategic expansion of the company’s commercial framework, providing a dedicated channel to bring partner-developed solutions to market without altering core production. Meanwhile, the upcoming Altas e-Sprinter signals the next phase of the company’s electric portfolio. It’ll be available both in 6.9 and 7.36-meter versions and Class A category. Demo vehicles will be ready by Q1 2026, with series production to start between end of 2026 and beginning of 2027.
