Consip has played a major role in the renewal of Italian public transport fleets in recent years. In late 2024 it issued a tender for for methane-powered buses (both CNG and LNG). Bidders? Here you have them. In May 2023 it had been the time of a tender for 500 e-buses, including hydrogen vehicles, awarded later in the same year. The most relevant zero emission bus tender was issued in 2022, for as many as 1,000 units.

Consip tender 2025 for 600 e-buses

In the latest Consip tender, the smallest vehicles requested are urban electric minibuses, with 70 units split between 5-meter and 6-meter models, both featuring plug-in battery charging. The midibus segment is well represented with 150 buses divided between 8- and 9-meter lengths, also with plug-in systems, as well as an additional 90 ten-meter midibuses. The largest volume of vehicles comes from the standard 12-meter category, totaling 250 units; this includes 190 plug-in urban buses and 60 Class II interurban models, uniquely designated for regional routes within the tender. Finally, articulated buses account for 50 units, split between 35 plug-in and 15 pantograph-charged 18-meter vehicles.
