FIAA 2026 closes with almost 11,000 visitors (growing 18%) and international attendance up 46%

FIAA 2026 closed in Madrid with 10,859 professional visitors and 110 exhibiting companies, while international attendance increased by 46% compared with the previous edition.

The International Bus and Coach Trade Fair, held at IFEMA MADRID, attracted visitors from 83 countries over its three days, according to figures released by FIAA. Nearly 80 journalists from 21 countries were also accredited for the event.

The exhibition brought together 110 companies, an increase of 18% compared with the 2024 edition and 42% compared with 2022. FIAA states that 35 companies participated for the first time, while international companies accounted for 30% of exhibitors. Overseas exhibitor participation was up 50% on the previous edition.

More than 1,000 professionals attended the conferences, debates and round tables organised within the FIAA Forum, according to figures released by the organisers.

Electrification, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, connectivity and operational efficiency were among the main themes addressed during the exhibition and conference programme.

The professional programme included sessions dedicated to operational profitability, sustainability and technological innovation. The Sustainable Bus Tour 2026 and the Transport Round Table also addressed the energy transition and cooperation between public authorities, operators and manufacturers.

The event hosted the presentation of the Sustainable Bus Awards 2027, awarded to Solaris, BYD and Irizar/Scania in their respective categories. FIAA also hosted the industry debate “What Will the Next Generation of Buses Look Like?”, involving Daimler Buses, IVECO BUS, Solaris and Irizar.

Artificial intelligence applications in public transport and female leadership in the industry were among the subjects addressed during the final day. A Global Mobility Call workshop was also dedicated to the role of buses within the wider mobility system.
