MAN Truck & Bus reports it closed the first six months of 2026 with higher vehicle sales across all major business segments, supported by continued growth in battery-electric vehicle deliveries. According to figures released by the manufacturer, the company sold approximately 51,000 vehicles globally in the first half of the year, an increase of 8% compared with the same period in 2025. The results include around 3,300 buses, up 2% year-on-year, while deliveries of fully electric buses exceeded 500 units.
MAN’s first-quarter 2026 results already showed the bus business continuing to contribute positively to the group’s performance, with bus deliveries increasing by 6% year-on-year to 1,462 units in Q1 2026 from 1,381 a year earlier. The manufacturer’s 2025 results also highlighted buses as one of the strongest-performing segments, with deliveries rising 49% to 7,002 units, while sales of battery-electric city buses exceeded 1,300 units, up more than 118% year-on-year.
Bus deliveries remain stable
Across all vehicle categories, MAN delivered around 1,100 fully electric vehicles during the first six months of the year, up 37% year-on-year. These comprised around 600 battery-electric trucks and more than 500 battery-electric buses, making buses responsible for nearly half of the manufacturer’s total electric vehicle deliveries during the reporting period.
According to MAN, demand developed positively across many European markets, while the German market remained below the broader European trend. The company states that battery-electric vehicles continue to gain importance within its customer base.
MAN sold approximately 32,000 trucks during the first half of 2026, representing growth of 10%, while van deliveries reached nearly 16,000 units (+6%). The engine business recorded almost 6,000 units, an increase of 17%.

Electric coach to complete MAN’s battery-electric bus range
The second half of 2026 will see MAN complete its battery-electric commercial vehicle portfolio with additional vehicle launches covering both trucks and buses.
On the bus side, customer deliveries of the MAN Lion’s Coach 14 E (presented at Busworld 2025) are scheduled to begin at the end of the year. The fully electric coach is expected to offer a range of up to 650 kilometres, extending MAN’s zero-emission offering beyond city and intercity applications into the coach segment.
The truck portfolio is also being expanded with new battery-electric variants for urban distribution, regional transport and long-haul operations. MAN states that its heavy-duty eTGX and eTGS models offer a range of around 570 kilometres in a typical 4×2 tractor-semitrailer configuration, while the new eTGM rigid truck is designed for urban and regional distribution with a range of up to 500 kilometres.
Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales & Customer Solutions at MAN, said: “The sales trend shows that our broad product range is holding its own in a challenging market environment. At the same time, battery-electric vehicles are becoming increasingly important to our customers.”
