Polish manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach has signed a contract to supply 73 articulated Trollino 18 trolleybuses to the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. The agreement forms part of a broader strategy to upgrade the city’s electric public transport system and support its long-term zero-emission mobility goals. The signature on the contract was announced by Solaris on Linkedin.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in autumn 2026. The same city is also witnessing the introduction of a large batch of 91 Skoda 12-meter trolleybuses, following a tender awarded in mid 2023. Earlier this year Vilnius public transport operator UAB Vilniaus viešasis transportas (VVT) has announced the procurement of 145 new electric buses.

The new 18-metre trolleybuses will replace older models that have been in service since 2004, when Solaris first delivered 15-metre units to Vilnius. The latest vehicles will feature onboard batteries allowing up to 20 km of autonomous operation beyond the overhead catenary.
