Yutong has unveiled its new battery-electric intercity model, the IC12E, during the UITP Summit 2025 in Hamburg in mid-June. Developed specifically for the European market, the IC12E was presented alongside the U12 city bus as part of the company’s broader focus on zero-emission mobility under the theme “Think Eco, Move Green.”

Following its official debut, the IC12E was immediately put to the test on a 1,272 km journey through Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. According to a Yutong press release, the aim of the initiative was to assess the vehicle’s real-world range, charging performance, and energy efficiency under typical operating conditions. The company reports an average energy consumption of 0.7 kWh/km (vehicle not fully loaded), with a single-charge distance of 510 km recorded between Hamburg and Copenhagen.

Yutong also highlights a charging session from 13% to 99% state of charge completed in 1 hour and 40 minutes using a single connector. The route included uphill road sections in Norway, where the vehicle reportedly maintained performance with gradients up to 20%.

The IC12E is Yutong’s latest product aimed at addressing the operational and environmental requirements of regional bus operators in Europe. The vehicle is built on the manufacturer’s experience in the market since 2005 and incorporates the latest developments in its electric drivetrain platform.

In parallel, Yutong showcased the U12 city bus in Hamburg, equipped with the company’s proprietary battery safety system and designed for main urban routes with capacity for up to 95 passengers.

The full-scenario drive was described by Yutong as a validation of the IC12E’s performance across diverse road types and climates. With this campaign, the company reinforces its commitment to offering emission-free solutions tailored to the European market, while continuing to develop vehicles aligned with international standards for public transport.
