Proterra has been selected by Capital Metro in one of the largest electric bus purchases in North America. The company that designs and manufactures electric transit buses and electric charging systems disclosed that Capital Metro has approved a plan to purchase 26 Proterra ZX5 Max 40-foot electric buses, with a total of more than 17 megawatt hours of battery storage capacity.

The plan the purchase an additional 126 40-foot electric buses and chargers over the next five years. Capital Metro’s first Proterra ZX5 Max buses are expected to be delivered in 2022. Capital Metro’s procurement plan marks one of the largest battery electric bus acquisitions in North America.

So CapMetro “bets on” Proterra

Designed and manufactured in the United States, Proterra’s electric buses are equipped with industry-leading battery technology systems. The 40-foot Proterra ZX5 Max selected by Capital Metro is equipped with 675 kWh of energy storage to provide up to 329 miles of driving range on a single charge, representing the largest energy storage and longest driving range of any 40-foot electric bus available on the market today.
