The UK will soon see the deployment of 25 Volvo BZL Electric 10.8m single deck buses, which will operate across East, South, and North Ayrshire. The BZL platform was launched in late 2021. In this case, bodywork will be by MCV.

The order from Stagecoach West Scotland marks the first customer orders for this new model to be delivered in the UK.

Just 18 months ago, Stagecoach deployed six Volvo 7900 Electric buses in its Kilmarnock depot. These initial vehicles allowed the company to gain direct experience and confidence in Volvo’s electric bus offering before placing the BZL Electric order.

Volvo Buses has worked with MCV Bus and Coach to develop the bodywork for the new BZL Electric range, specifically tailored to UK fleets. The buses come in both single and double deck variants, with vehicle lengths ranging from 9.7m to 12.9m, and with low-entry or full low floor options available.

Stagecoach West Scotland’s new Volvo e-buses will be supported in service by local dealer Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland.
