CarMedialab is contributing to the digitalisation of electric bus operations in Paris and Barcelona through standardisation and charge management technology.

In March 2025, Keolis Netherlands turned to CarMedialab as intelligent charge management system’s provider. The German company is involved in the major project of Dakar’s BRT in Senegal.

In the USA, CarMedialab is working with C-TRAN and in New York among others.

CarMedialab in Paris and Barcelona

In Paris, CarMedialab is working with RATP as part of the Bus 2025 program. The focus of the collaboration is the implementation of the VDV 261 interface, which facilitates communication between electric buses, charging infrastructure, and the charge management system. This integration is necessary for functions such as automated battery preconditioning and cabin preparation before departure. To address the complexity of implementing this standard across different manufacturers and systems, RATP and CarMedialab developed a VDV 261 test tool. The tool simulates the communication process between vehicle and charger without requiring physical equipment, allowing operators to test and validate interoperability in advance.

“The RATP Group has made innovation a key part of its DNA and a powerful driver of its development. To achieve this, it can rely on its own innovation capabilities and an open ecosystem in which partner companies such as CarMedialab play a key role. The tool is powerful, easy to use, and ensures interoperability, which is the cornerstone of electric mobility. I am proud of the results of this collaboration!”, states Jérôme Sahuc, IT Manager RATP Bus 2025 Program

In Barcelona, where TMB has won in late 2023 the tender from TMB Barcelona to implement its MOBILEcharge technology on the entire operator’s electric bus fleet, the carrier is using CarMedialab’s platform to coordinate charging at three bus depots. The system manages the distribution of energy by shifting charging sessions to times when demand from the metro network is reduced. This supports stable grid usage while maintaining vehicle readiness for service.
