March Networks and VIVOTEK will showcase AI-powered video, mobile recording and security technologies connecting buses, rail vehicles, stations and depots at APTA TRANSform & EXPO 2026 in Chicago next week.
The companies will present their combined transit portfolio at the event, taking place October 5-7 at McCormick Place. The technologies on display will include AI-assisted video search, driver monitoring, mobile recording and centralized video management across vehicle fleets and fixed facilities.
According to March Networks and VIVOTEK, the systems are designed to connect video with operational information including GPS and telematics data, covering applications ranging from incident investigation to passenger counting and fleet operations.
March Networks and VIVOTEK operate within the Security Solutions group of Delta Intelligent Building Technologies, bringing complementary technologies to the transit sector. Ottawa-based March Networks specializes in video surveillance, mobile recording, enterprise video management and business intelligence, while Taiwan-founded VIVOTEK, part of Delta since 2017, focuses on AI-powered IP cameras, video management software and cloud surveillance solutions.
March Networks and VIVOTEK bring AI video to public transit
Among the technologies being demonstrated at APTA is March Networks’ Attribute Search, which allows operators to search recorded footage using visual characteristics such as clothing color and vehicle type.
The technology can be used to locate a person within station footage, identify vehicles associated with recorded events or follow activity across multiple cameras. The companies will also demonstrate AI applications for driver fatigue and distraction detection, passenger counting, occupancy analysis, object and zone detection, tampering alerts and vehicle empty checks.
March Networks and VIVOTEK state that video can be connected with GPS, telematics and other operational data to provide additional information associated with incidents and vehicle activity.
Another technology on display will be Sleep Mode, which allows incidents to be captured when a vehicle is parked and powered down.
The joint portfolio combines March Networks’ mobile recording, video management and investigation systems with VIVOTEK’s AI-powered IP cameras for onboard and fixed installations.
One video platform across buses, stations and depots
For onboard applications, March Networks will showcase its RideSafe NVRs and cameras alongside VIVOTEK’s transportation and rolling-stock camera portfolio. The equipment covers driver and passenger areas aboard vehicles as well as stations and other fixed transit environments.
March Networks’ Command Enterprise Software provides centralized management of video generated across fleets and facilities. AI Smart Search and Attribute Search are used for video investigation, while Searchlight Cloud and Evidence Vault cover cloud-based intelligence and evidence management.
The combined portfolio also supports connections with access control, cloud storage and other security systems installed at stations, depots and administrative facilities.
March Networks reports deployments at public transport systems in North America, including one operator with a fleet of nearly 2,500 vehicles. Capital District Transportation Authority in Albany, New York, uses March Networks video systems across fixed-route buses, garages, its administrative and call centre facility and Rensselaer Rail Station.
VIVOTEK, for its part, states that it deploys more than 100,000 IP cameras annually for onboard transportation applications on buses, trains and ferries. International installations cited by the company include Lillestrøm Bus Terminal in Norway and Bangkok’s MRT Red Line.
Driver monitoring and passenger analytics at APTA 2026
AI-based driver monitoring will form another part of the companies’ APTA showcase. The systems can monitor fatigue and distraction, while other analytics provide passenger counting and occupancy information.
The technologies cover both mobile and fixed environments, with video and associated data managed across vehicles, stations and depots rather than through separate onboard and infrastructure systems.
March Networks and VIVOTEK will present the technologies separately at APTA, with March Networks located at booth 3220 and VIVOTEK at booth 3858.
